A Statement on the Death of Larry Malament

On Saturday afternoon, October 15, 2022, our dearly loved pastor, friend, and brother, Larry Malament, died of a heart attack at home, leaving his earthly body and departing to glory. Larry hadn’t been experiencing any unusual sickness or discomfort prior to his death.

While we are shocked, we are those who grieve with hope since Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life. He died and rose again and will return to bring with him those who have fallen asleep. Jesus Christ is our hope in life and death.

Two funeral services were held to honor Larry’s life and to celebrate the fact that death is not the end for Larry and for all those who place their hope in Christ. The first was held on October 21 in Gaithersburg, MD, and the second was held on October 26 in Charlotte, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the Malament family has requested that gifts be made to Lord's Grace Church, Seoul, South Korea. This is a church that Larry helped establish and cared for deeply. You can make contributions here by selecting the fund "Lord's Grace Church."

Sitting on his desk the day he died, Larry’s Bible was left open to 2 Timothy 4. In verses 7 and 8 Paul writes, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” We rejoice that this is true for Larry.

In the hope of Christ,
